Hi - I'm April Mucci, owner of Lakeland Mom and and your host here at Local Moms + More.
I started Lakeland Mom ten years ago with a simple goal: make life easier and more fun for local families.
For years I dreamed of a different kind of online community space where moms could find actual connection and real support — not just a Facebook feed full of noise and quick Q&As.
This is that space. And I'm so glad you're here.

Is this replacing LakelandMom.com?
Not at all! LakelandMom.com isn't going anywhere — it's still your go-to for local guides, event calendars, and family resources. Local Moms + More is an addition, not a replacement. Think of it as the community that lives alongside the website.
Who can join the Local Moms+ More community?
We welcome all moms, caregivers, and women from the Polk County area and nearby Central Florida communities - including Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow, Auburndale, Plant City, and beyond. We welcome women at every stage and from all walks of life - grandmas, bonus moms, foster moms, future moms, and women who aren’t called “mom” but still want connection and community.

This space is designed to reflect the needs, voices, and experiences of women. We share resources for all parents on LakelandMom.com, through our weekly email newsletter, and on the Lakeland Mom Facebook and Instagram pages. It’s easy! You can join from your phone, tablet, or computer - whatever works best for you. Once you sign up, we’ll guide you through all the onboarding steps so you feel right at home. Yes! Local Moms + More originally launched in April 2025 but was put on pause just a few weeks later while I dealt with some personal health stuff. We're back, better than ever, and so ready to build this together. Thanks for your patience and for being here. 🩷
